– Women of my Land

Being religious and being groovy don’t have to be mutually exclusive. And in the end who are we to judge each other? Every woman has a right to her religion, and her personal interpretation of it. This song + artwork is dedicated to two beautiful, passionate and brilliantly talented twin sisters from Thatta, Noor Unnahar Siddique & Areeba Siddique. Seeing their work, their thoughts and their meditations on Islam has been so wonderful and inspirational, hope you girls always keep creating the magic you do!

For my exhibition project at the Gandhara-art Space, I have combined music with my perspective as a girl, growing up and living in the cultural and societal norms of Pakistan.

Special love + thanks to Tollcrane for producing the tracks, Hum Tas for providing vocals & our curator Adeel Uz Zafar for his direction & patience!
