Rebecca Gayheart reveals what stopped her from divorcing Eric Dane

Rebecca Gayheart has spoken openly about her breakup with late actor Eric Dane.

The 55-year-old actress recently appeared on the latest episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, where she revealed why she never divorced the Grey’s Anatomy star.

For those unaware, Rebecca parted ways with Eric in 2018 after 14 years of marriage. The Jawbreaker alum welcomed two daughters, Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14, with The Last Ship actor.

After confirming that they never actually divorced, Drew asked Rebecca, “What do you think that did to the psychology of your kids, may I ask?”

To which, the actress replied, “I will say for the kids, the bad, the negative that maybe it gave them was hope that maybe we could reconcile, which was never going to happen.”

“We made that really clear to the kids, but I don’t know what goes on in a kid’s mind,” she continued. “The good thing that came from it was that they knew that we were friends, that we did our very best to co-parent the best we could, and that we were a family.”

“That was for me, the word family, was everything and so that’s why I think divorce was really hard for me and I had such a hard time accepting the fact that I wasn’t gonna have this thing that I really wanted, and really had worked hard for and thought I had created,” added Rebecca. “But I do believe that Billie and Georgie would sit here and if anyone asked them and say our family was kept intact.”
